Not a Morning Person, But I Want to Be..
My Journey to Embracing Early Mornings and Why It Matters
Waking up early in the morning has never been my cup of tea. In fact, for the longest time, my relationship with mornings was more of a battle than a blessing — countless alarms, snoozed dreams, and rushed starts. But deep inside, I’ve always longed for something else: the stillness of the morning air, the golden hue of sunrise, the calm before the world wakes up.
I want to feel that..
I want to experience mornings not as something to survive — but something to savor.
More than that, I want to align my day: to start on time, feel in control, and create space for my thoughts and passions. And once I manage to truly build this routine, I promise — I’d love to share it with you.
But first things first: How do you actually wake up early when it doesn’t come naturally?
Step 1: Change Your Nights to Transform Your Mornings
Waking up early starts the night before. I learned that the hard way. Here’s what really helps:
-
Wind down with intention. Create a calm evening ritual — maybe light music, a book, or a quick journal entry.
-
Ditch the screens. Blue light from phones and TVs confuses your brain and keeps you alert.
-
Sleep on time, gradually. If you're used to sleeping at midnight, don’t force 9 PM immediately. Start by sleeping just 15-30 minutes earlier each night.
Step 2: Make Waking Up Easier
Once you’re in bed earlier, the morning part gets a little easier — but it still needs support.
-
Keep your alarm out of reach. Make yourself get up to turn it off.
-
Have something to look forward to. Your favorite playlist, a hot drink, or even just 5 minutes of silence under the sky.
-
Don’t pressure yourself. Let it be a gentle beginning, not a productivity race.
Step 3: Embrace the Magic of Morning
Mornings aren’t just about waking up early — they’re about waking up to life. And once you do, you’ll notice:
The Real Benefits:
-
Peace and Presence: There’s something sacred about early mornings — before the world floods in.
-
Mental Clarity: Your mind is fresher, quieter, and more focused.
-
Time for Yourself: Whether it’s journaling, planning your day, or just breathing — mornings give you you.
-
Productive Start: Early risers tend to complete more important tasks before noon.
-
Connection With Nature: Sunrise light, bird songs, the crisp air — they remind you that you’re alive.
My Promise to You (And Myself)
I’m still on this journey. Some days I rise with the sun, and others… I rise with the second or third alarm. But I’m learning, slowly, that real change doesn’t come from perfection — it comes from intention.
And the more I fall in love with the idea of morning not as a duty but as a gift the closer I get to building a routine I’ll be proud to share.
So if you’re not a morning person either, just know:
You don’t need to be perfect.
You just need to start — with love, patience, and maybe one less snooze..
