The Santa Uncle I’ll Never Forget

Hey readers…

I know not many people visit my blog, but if you’re here, please read this story. I’m sharing it from deep within my heart, and I hope it touches yours too.

Today, I want to talk about a man from my childhood who was truly like a Santa for many kids.

A Simple Gift, A Big Memory

When I was in 6th standard, birthday parties were common, and we often had to buy gifts. I loved giving presents, but at that time, my family couldn’t always afford expensive ones. Sometimes, we even avoided attending parties because of this.

One day, I heard about a small shop where gifts were available at cheaper prices. I went there to buy a scenery frame, which was a popular gift back then.

At the counter, I saw an uncle with grey hair and a gentle smile. People were bargaining with him, yet he remained calm and patient.

When he noticed me, he asked kindly:

“What do you want, beta? Shall I pack it for you?”

Even though the gift was already affordable, I tried bargaining like others. He smiled and said:

“Okay beta, you can take it at the price you suggested.”

That moment made me feel so happy, as if I had won a prize.

A Santa for Every Child

He treated every child the same way—with warmth and kindness. Children loved coming to his shop because he made them feel special.

Even when his family told him not to sell things so cheaply, he didn’t change. He chose to be our Santa, helping us buy gifts and attend celebrations without worry.

I kept visiting his shop for years, even until my graduation.

A Goodbye That Hurt

After a long time, I went back to his shop, but it was gone. A new expensive store had taken its place.

When I asked about him, the shopkeeper replied:

“He is no more.”

I returned home with tears and golden memories in my heart.

Kindness Never Disappears

That uncle may not be in this world today, but in my heart, he will always remain the Santa of my childhood.

Some people are not just shopkeepers…

They are quiet heroes who leave behind the greatest gift of all:

Kindness.
